Who we are
About Us
Strategies for Agro-Pastoralists Development (SAPAD) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the livelihoods of agro-pastoralist communities in Kenya. We promote sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and community empowerment through organic farming, tree planting, vocational training, and entrepreneurship programs. SAPAD also advocates for quality education and public health awareness, supporting special needs learners and vulnerable groups. Through strategic partnerships, we implement programs that foster self-reliance, food security, and climate resilience. Our vision is a thriving, empowered society where communities have the skills and resources to build a sustainable future.
Our Program Areas
Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security
We support small-scale farmers with training, organic farming, and poultry production to enhance food security and economic stability. Our programs promote agribusiness, value addition, and market access for better livelihoods.
Environmental Conservation & Climate Resilience
SAPAD leads tree planting, land restoration, and climate-smart agriculture initiatives to combat desertification and promote sustainable ecosystems. We also train communities in water conservation and disaster risk reduction.
Community Empowerment & Livelihoods
We equip women and youth with vocational skills, entrepreneurship training, and income-generating opportunities. Our programs also support adult literacy, special needs education, and cooperative development.
Health, Education & Social Development
SAPAD advocates for quality education, improves school infrastructure, and promotes health awareness, including HIV/AIDS education. We also support school feeding programs and child nutrition initiatives.

Trees Planted
SAPAD has planted over 291,000 trees to combat desertification, restore degraded land, and promote climate resilience in agro-pastoralist communities.
Farmers Trained
More than 500 small-scale farmers have received training in organic farming, poultry production, and agribusiness, improving food security and economic stability.
Women & Youth Empowered
Over 300 women and youth have gained vocational training and entrepreneurship skills, enabling them to start businesses and achieve financial independence.
Students Supported
SAPAD has enhanced learning opportunities for 200+ students by improving school infrastructure, supporting special needs learners, and promoting literacy programs.
